A new program called Fitness Fridays will begin this Friday in Adams County, launched by the parks and recreation department, Adams Memorial Hospital, St. Mark's United Methodist Church, and North Adams Food Service.
Fitness Fridays will be held each Friday through August 19 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at several locations in Decatur. The schedule:
First Friday in June, July, August: Meet behind Community Market, 230 E. Monroe St., at 5:30 p.m. for a bike ride to Kekionga Park for games and a free cookout at 6 p.m. Food will be provided by North Adams Food Service. Helmets are recommended for bikers.
Second Friday in June, July, August: Come to St. Mark's church, 546 W. US 224, at 5:30 p.m. to hike in a woods, play frisbee golf, use playground equipment, and enjoy homemade snacks from members of that church.
Third Friday in June, July, August: Meet at the hospital's rehabilitation entrance at 5:30 p.m. and walk the Rivergreenway Trail. Water and snacks will be provided.
Fourth Friday in June, July, August: Free entry to the Decatur swimming pool, starting at 5:30 p.m., and a free cookout at 6 p.m. Food will come from North Adams Food Service.
