Berdella M. Liechty, 73, of Berne, died Monday in Adams Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Adams County on June 16, 1937, to Orval and Marie Biberstein Alt.
She married Ernest R. Liechty on April 5, 1958; he survives.
She was active with her husband in a diversified livestock and grain farm, was very supportive of her church (First Mennonite Church at Berne), and was active in 4-H and FFA.
She also enjoyed reading, loved her family (especially the grandchildren), and was a proud alumnus of the Hartford High School Gorillas.
Other survivors are two sons, Kent Liechty (and wife Teri) and Ted Liechty (and wife Kathy) of Berne; two daughters, Mrs. Jeff (Sondra) Lehman of Berne and Mrs. Denver (Jane) Nussbaum of Monroe; one brother, Merlin Alt (and wife BettyJo) of Berne; two sisters, Mrs. Dan (Alice) Grimme of Fort Wayne and Mrs. Harry (LaVera) Gillette of Tucson, Arizona; and 11 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kimberly Nussbaum.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First Mennonite Church, with Pastor Jerry Flueckiger officiating.
Burial will be in MRE Cemetery, rural Berne.
Visiting hours are 1-8 p.m. today and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday in the church.
Preferred memorials are to the Mennonite Central Committee's annual meat-canning project or to the Galesburg Rescue Mission.
