Betty J. Tinkham, 85, of Decatur, died at 11:24 a.m. Tuesday in Adams Memorial Hospital following surgical complications.
She was born on August 30, 1925, in Hoagland to Rufus and Hester Young Werst.
She married Melvin H. Tinkham; he preceded her in death in 2001.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Decatur.
Surviving are two sons, Dr. Brad Tinkham, a physician in Atlanta, Georgia, and Van Tinkham (and wife Denise) of Ogden, Utah; and two grandchildren, Evan Tinkham and Grant Tinkham.
She was preceded in death by four sisters: Maxine, Eleanor, Anna, and Luella Werst. Four brothers are also deceased: George, Jobe, Elmer, and Ollie "Pete" Werst.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, with Rev. Michael Heinbaugh officiating.
Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery.
Visiting hours are 2-6 p.m. Friday and 10-11 a.m. Saturday in Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home.
