Mirena E. Kopacz, 92, of Decatur, passed away at 5:50 a.m. on Monday, April 11, 2011, at The Village of Heritage nursing home in Monroeville.
She was born on August 29, 1918, in Pisa, Italy, to Quadrio and Edwiga Moggia.
She married Joseph J. Kopacz on April 19, 1951; he passed away on September 4, 1994.
She is survived by two sons, Michel A. Guillot of Sacramento, California, and Patrick Kopacz of Decatur; two daughters, Liliane A.E. Urick of Monroeville and Aline L. (Thomas) Braun of Decatur; one sister, Masca Graves of New Jersey; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Claude Guillot, and a grandson, Matthew Braun.
She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Decatur.
She worked as a homemaker.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today, April 12, 2011, at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home, Decatur, with reciting of the Holy Rosary at 5:30 p.m.
A prayer service will be held at 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Officiating will be Father Gabriel Msuya.
Burial will take place in Marion National Cemetery at Marion, Indiana.
Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
