The numbers don't lie!
Adams Central junior Maverick Baumer, a 6-5 junior forward, compiled some impressive statistics this past season as he helped to lead the Jets to their best record in almost 30 years, a 13-8 ledger.
For his efforts, the Daily Democrat sports staff is naming Baumer the Adams County Boys Prep Player of the Year.
Among the victories for the Jets was defeating eventual sectional champion Bluffton in the ACAC Tourney. The Tigers also tied for the regular-season championship in the ACAC.
Baumer averaged 15.4 points per game, but that does not tell the story of the competitive junior's efforts. Baumer hit over 58 percent of his two-pointers and stuck in .436 of his three-point tries. His .873 free throw percentage was one of the best in the state.
He led the Jets with 125 rebounds and added a gaudy 44 blocked shots. He also slammed dunked the ball nine times, greatly entertaining the Jets' faithful.
