Max E. Elzey, 72, of Decatur, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2011, at his residence.
He was born on May 27, 1938, to Vilas and Florine (Bunner) Elzey.
He married Dianne K. Fulton on November 27, 1958.
He is survived by his wife, Dianne K. Elzey of Decatur; one son, Dan (Gale) Elzey of Decatur; two daughters, Christine Ashbaugh of Indianapolis and Laurie (Randy) Gay of Decatur; a half-sister, Jean Murray of Decatur; three grandchildren, Chelsey and Taylon Elzey of Decatur and Monica Eloph of Indianapolis; and one great-grandchild, Brookelynne Rucker of Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Dick Elzey; a grandson, William Vidal, and a half-brother, Vilas Elzey.
He was a member of St. Luke Church in rural Decatur, a member of Moose Lodge 1311 in Decatur, and a past leader of the Adams County 4-H Horse and Pony Club.
He retired after 25 years of service at International Harvester and then was the owner and operator of D&D Auto in Decatur.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home, Decatur.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2011, at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home. Officiating will be Pastor Mike Wertenberger.
Burial will take place in St. Luke Cemetery, rural Decatur.
Memorials may be made to St. Luke Church or to the Preble Fire Department.
