Area baseball leagues are wrapping up registration for the coming season. The Decatur Baseball Association, which is still taking players for all six leagues, will sign up players at the 'Spotlight' activity Saturday at the Bellmont Middle School gym, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monmouth is taking players in the Mays Division (9-10) and in their new developmental league (5-6). Monroe registration has ended, and the Pleasant Mills registration will begin on Saturday.
Decatur Baseball will have one final signup the day after spring break, March 28, a Monday, at the United Steelworkers Hall, 6 to 8 p.m.
Tryout dates have also been set for Decatur. The Reese (11-12) and Mays (9-10) leagues will conduct their annaual tryout-exhbition (all players will be put on teams) on Wednesday, April 6, 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bellmont High School Auxiliary gym.
Koufax (13 and 14) players will have tryouts on Sunday, April 10, at 3 p.m. at the BHS Auxiliary gym.
The Decatur Clemente (7 and 8) league will conduct tryouts on Wednesday, April 20, 6 to 8 p.m. at Bellmont Auxiliary gym.

Registration fee in Decatur is $40, plus each family is asked to participate in two fundraiser this year, selling raffle tickets (20 for T-Ball and 25 for the rest of the leagues), and candy (one case of 50 candy bars, $1 each). Money for the fundraisers may be paid up front, or returned after the sale. There is a $25 buyout for those who do not want to sell candy.
Pleasant Mills Ball League will be hold registration for T-Ball, Farm League, and Softball this Saturday, March 12, and Saturday, April 2 from 9-11a.m. and on Wednesday, March 16, and Wednesday, March 30, from 6-8 p.m. at the St Mary's Township Building and Park in Pleasant Mills.

Umpire training sessions slated
Area umpires are invited to Monday umpire training sessions conducted by local veteran umpire Victor Canales.
The sessions run from 7 to 8 p.m. at the United Steelworkers Union Hall located along the Monmouth Road. Both Decatur Baseball Association President Jim Hopkins and Monmouth Baseball Association President Ian Gilbert encourage their umpires to participate in the sessions.
Canales goes over positioning, game communications between umpires, rules interpretation, mechanics and strike zone philosophy.
