FORT WAYNE — Indiana Tech, with official competition set for the fall of 2011, will get a commitment today from South Adams' unbeaten 152-pound senior Josh Ehr.
One of the most successful wrestlers in South Adams history, Ehr is 138-24 for his high school career. Over the past two seasons, Ehr is 75-1, having fallen at the ticket round to state a year ago at the Woodlan Semistate.
He is the top seed at 152 pounds at the Jay County Sectional, slated for Saturday. Ehr has qualfied for the IHSAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament two times and was a sectional and regional champion last year.
He won the ACAC Tourney at 160 pounds last week, beating defending champ Cody Conrad of Heritage. It was his second conference title.
Ehr was set to sign the letter of intent this morning at South Adams.
The Indiana Tech Warriors are an NAIA school, and next year will be their first season with a wrestling program, coached by Mike Ester.
"It's been one match at a time all year, and that continues right into the tournament," noted Ehr.
"I've been waiting for this ever since last year's loss. I'm not thinking about anything else other than the sectional on Saturday."
Josh is currently ranked No. 2 at 152 pounds in Indiana and has a 34-0 record this season. His career record for the Starfires is 138-24, which includes his 41-1 record last season. He has been a state qualifier twice, ACAC champion twice, sectional and regional champion last year. Josh holds records at South Adams for the most dual wins in a season (27), most pins in a season (29) and the best win percentage in a season.
Josh has lettered in wrestling four years, cross country one year and soccer three years for South Adams. He has helped the Starfires win four consecutive ACAC Wrestling Championships and led his team to an undefeated 27-0 record this season.
