R. Rolando “Roli” Rangel, 33, of Noblesville, Indiana, formerly of Decatur, died unexpectedly at his residence on Thursday, January 13, 2011.
He was the son of Roberto M. and Irma O. (Serna) Rangel of Decatur. Roli was born on December 10, 1977 in Decatur.
He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Decatur and its Hispanic Society.
He graduated from Bellmont High School in 1996 where he was in the Prominent Image/Brave Generation show choir as a drummer.
He was also a volunteer for the Democratic Obama Administration and worked at Don Shula’s Steakhouse in Indianapolis and was a student at the International Culinary School at the Arts Institute of Indianapolis.
Roli was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan and an inspiring chef and musician.
He is survived by his parents, Robert and Irma Rangel of Decatur; a sister, Rachel (Mark) Bienz of Overland Park, Kansas; two brothers: Rick Rangel of Monterey, California and Ryan Rangel of Decatur; four nephews: Branden, Owen, Aiden, and Eithen Bienz of Overland Park, Kansas; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Calling will be from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Haggard and Sefton Funeral Home in Decatur, with reciting of the Holy Rosary at 3:30 p.m.
A 9 a.m. prayer service will be conducted on Monday, January 17, 2011, at the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Father David Voors will be officiating.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery.
