Robert F. Plummer, 76, a resident of Woodcrest Retirement Community in Decatur, died at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Adams Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Defiance, Ohio.
He married Betty L. Griggs on June 19, 1954, in Antwerp, Ohio; she passed away on August 1, 2006.
Robert was a radar electronics computer technician for air defense and ballistic missile defense systems in the United States Army for 25 years, retiring in 1977, and had been employed by Teledyne Brown Engineering for 20 years, retiring in 1998.
Robert served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and the Vietnam War and was stationed in Greenland, Okinawa, and the United States. Surviving are three brothers, Ray E. Plummer (and wife Dianne) of Warsaw; Larry L. Plummer (and wife Joyce) of Defiance, Ohio; and Carey W. Plummer (and wife Brenda) of Napoleon, Ohio, and two sisters, Mrs. Jerry (Margaret A.) Ramey of Defiance, Ohio and Nancy J. Oberhaus of West Unity, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Decatur, with burial in Decatur Cemetery and military graveside rites conducted by the color guard from American Legion Post 43 in Decatur.
Visiting hours are 9-10 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel at Woodcrest Retirement Community (Porter Auditorium), 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home at Decatur, and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
