Alvin Hackman, 69, of Decatur, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2010, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
Alvin was born on January 25, 1941, in Adams County to the late Anslem and Christine Hackman.
On August 3, 1989, he married Kathy Patrick.
Alvin worked for Prestress Services of rural Decatur as a truck driver and trucking supervisor and retired after 25 years of service.
He was also a member of American Legion Post 43 in Decatur. He served in the United States Navy from 1960-64.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Hackman of Decatur; two sons, Bradley Hackman of Oahu, Hawaii, and Scott (Kristin) Hackman of Indianapolis; two stepsons, Mart (Juli) Gerke and Patrick Gerke, both of Decatur; three stepdaughters, Peggy (Jim) Huntley of Monroe and Joyce Hawkins and Penny Williams, both of Decatur; two brothers, Anslem "Jack" (Bernice) Hackman and James Hackman, both of Decatur; five grandchildren; 15 stepgrandchildren; and 15 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Alvin was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. on Thursday, December 23, 2010, at Haggard and Sefton Funeral Home, Decatur.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 24, 2010, at the funeral home, with military honors by the American Legion Post 43. Pastor Daniel Brege will be officiating.
Burial will be at a later date in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Decatur.
Memorials are to Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home or James Whitcomb Riley Childrens Hospital in Indianapolis.
