Help has come to Operation Help.
The Decatur-based food bank shut down a week ago because of a lack of money and delayed delivery of government-provided groceries. Both problems have been resolved, however, and Operation Help is operating normally again.
Mary Jo Toole, who heads the food bank, said Thursday that the site in the basement of the Adams County Service Complex in Decatur is open today from 1-3 p.m. and will maintain its usual hours, which are 1-3 p.m. each Tuesday and Friday.
Toole noted that not only did the government food arrive, but Operation Help received three monetary donations that totaled $550.
Toole said earlier that 25 families had been assisted by Operation Help on October 22, and that the site aided 125 families in September and 172 families in August. In March of this year, she said, Operation Help assisted 183 families, which amounted to 592 people.
