The Bank of Geneva has announced that Clarence “Ittle” Buckingham is retiring from his Geneva office maintenance position at the end of October. His last day of work will be this Friday.
Buckingham, who is 93 years young, has worked at the Bank of Geneva for 29 years, following his retirement in 1981 from Naas Foods (now Red Gold), where he was employed for 38 years.
A bank representative said Buckingham "personally greets each Geneva employee every morning with a smile and always has a kind word for everyone. Ittle will be greatly missed by everyone at the bank."
Buckingham has been married to his wife, Helen, for 66 years. He is the father of two sons: John Buckingham (wife Susan) and Jim Buckingham (wife Carol), both of Geneva. The Buckinghams have three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The bank will host a retirement breakfast for Buckingham and his family and friends from 8 a.m. – 10 a.m. on Friday at the Geneva main office.
"The Bank of Geneva thanks Ittle for his years of service and wishes him well in his retirement years," the bank announcement closed.
