Dianna R. Parris

    Dianna R. Parris, 65, Berne, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2014.
    Among survivors are a son, Matthew (Jennifer) Parris of Dayton, Ohio; daughter, Shawna (Phillip) Parris-Mckee of Eaton, Ohio; four grandchildren, Leanna, Alexis and Likas Parris; and Devon McKee; five great-granchildren, Alexander and Rayeanna Kissinger; Zuri Placke; and Maralyn and Kellin O'Dell.
    Funeral service is at 5 p.m. Friday at Memorial Baptist Church in Eaton, with pastor Dave Souers officiating.

Sister Ancilla Lengerich

    Sister Ancilla Lengerich, CSA, (Teresa Mary Lengerich) died peacefully Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, at St. Francis Home, Fond du Lac, Wis.
    Teresa Mary was born in Decatur June 11, 1920, to Clement Lengerich and Catherine Gase Lengerich. She was one of five children, one boy and four girls.     Two of her sisters also entered religious life, becoming Our Lady of Victory Missionary Sisters, and one sister married; her brother was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend.

James Karl Lough

    James Karl Lough, 79, Decatur, passed away Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014, in Adams Woodcrest.
    He was born on Sunday, Aug.11, 1935, in Decatur, to the late Frank and Katheryn Shell.
    James was a member of the V.F.W. Post 6236 in Decatur. He was a mechanic for Paul Reidenbach for more than 40 years, and served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.
    Surviving are his sisters, Donna (Gary) Heckert and Maxine Brickley, both of Decatur.

William A. Lykins

    William A. “Bill” Lykins, 66, Portland, passed away Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014.
    He had worked at General Electric in Decatur for 23 years.
    Among survivors are his wife, Carol Lykins; two sons, Scott (Lisa) Lykins of Bryant and Chad (Briggett) Lykins of Portland; daughter, Amy (Jamie) Shaneyfelt of Portland; brother, David (Judy) Ferguson of Fort Wayne; sister, Roseanna Moore of Ridgeville; and 10 grandchildren.

Rev. John L. Pennell

    Rev. John L. Pennell, 81, Willshire, Ohio, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014, at his residence. John was born in New Lexington, Ohio, April 21, 1933, to the late Howard L. and Virgie M. (Northup) Pennell. He married Janice S. Stanley Dec. 24, 1953; she preceded him in death on May 15, 2014.
    John and Janice were members of Decatur Church of God. He was a minister with the Church of God, Anderson Affiliation for more than 35 years. John received his bachelor's degree from Anderson University. He was a member of the American Legion.

    Freddie Perez, 50, Decatur, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014, at his residence.
    Among survivors are his daughter, Rita Perez of Waco, Texas; three brothers, Victor (Tammy) Perez of Decatur; Frank (Christina) Perez of Olathe, Kan.; Joverr Perez of Indiana; significant other, Charlotte Jones of Decatur; father, Victor Perez Sr. of Decatur; and four granddaughters.
    Private family services only.
 

Kay Arnold

    Kay Arnold, 73, Geneva, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014.
    Among survivors are one son, Richard (Tacy) Fravel of Monroe; two daughters, Becky Fravel-Heyerly of Bluffton; and Lisa (Mike) Roderick, Rosedale; two step sons, Jerry (Wanda) Arnold of Bryant; and Norman Arnold of Peoria, Ill.; two step daughters, Nancy (Robert) Dull of Geneva; and Patricia (Sam) Skinner of Albany; sister, Elaine Betts of N.C.; brother, Jimmy Lee Malott of Ariz.; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Marvin J. Renkema

    Marvin J. Renkema, 83, Decatur died at his residence Friday, Nov, 14, 2014. Marvin was born in Holland, Mich. on Aug. 31, 1931, to the late Minard and Minnie (Deloff) Renkema. He married Helen L. O’Dell on June 21, 1986. She survives in Decatur.
    Marvin attended the New Hope Church. He was a truck driver for 50 years and owner of MJR Express. He served his country in the US Army from 1950-1952. He was a member of the American Legion Post 43.

Victor R. Steiner

November 17, 2014

    Victor R. Steiner, 96, Berne, formerly of Monroe, passed away Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, at Swiss Village in Berne. He was born in Adams County on Jan. 26, 1918, to the late Cyrus and Amanda (Bruchy) Steiner. He married Margaret Reichenbach May 18, 1952; she preceded him in death on May 19, 1993.
    He was a self-employed farmer in the Monroe area and also worked at Berne Furniture for 7 years. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1942-1946 in the South Pacific Islands.
