August 6, 2014

The Indiana Statewide Testing for Education Progress Plus reports released Monday by the Indiana Department of Education included statistics for private schools as well as public institutions, and Wyneken Memorial Lutheran School in Decatur received some impressive marks.
In the area of math proficiency reported from this spring’s ISTEP testing, 100 percent of Wyneken students in grades five, six, seven and eight passed the exam, while 96 percent of those in the third and fourth grades passed the math portion of the ISTEP test. English proficiency tests saw only slightly lesser results, with 100 percent of fifth and seventh grade students passing the exam. Third grade (91 percent), fourth grade (95 percent) and eighth- grade students (91 percent) also scored impressively on the English test, with only sixth grade students reflecting a lower passing percentage at 78 percent.
