Turns out U.S. Rep. Marlin Stutzman won't be there after all, but two state legislators will and, it's hoped, so will World War II veterans in Adams County as the rededication of the Peace Monument is held on Saturday, August 24 in Decatur.
The event to mark the 100th anniversary of the first monument built in the U.S. to be dedicated to peacetime will begin at 2:30 p.m., a time change made to accommodate Stutzman, who has since said he will be unable to attend.
However, State Sen. Travis Holdman, R-Markle, and State Rep. Matt Lehman, R-Berne, have agreed to participate.
Max Miller of Decatur said all World War II veterans in the county are being urged to attend as they will be honored during the ceremony.
