The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Wayne has confirmed an EF-0 tornado touched down on the south side of Willshire, Wednesday night, traveling about three blocks and leaving heavy damage in the area.
The NWS reported the tornado was on the ground less than two minutes with maximum wind speed estimated at 80 mph. Although the tornado was short-lived, it caused substantial damage to homes, ripping off roofs, snapping trees, and rolling a stand-alone garage off its foundation.
The touchdown occurred, the weather bureau said, at about 11:27 p.m. at the intersection of Green and Williams streets and continued three blocks east to the intersection of Green Street and State Road 49.
