William L. Schumm

    William L. Schumm, 84, Willshire, Ohio, passed away at 8:20 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, 2013 at his daughter's home in Monroe.
    Bill was born on Thursday, July 25, 1929, in Van Wert County, Ohio, to the late Theodore G. and Leona (Stetler) Schumm.  He married the late Dorothy E. Ketrow on October 1, 1950, in Monroeville; she passed away on April 15, 2000.
    Bill was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church-Schumm in rural Willshire, Ohio.  Bill enjoyed his family, gardening, and eating out.
    Bill retired from Chrysler Corp. in Van Wert, Ohio in 1989; and later from I.C.M. in Van Wert in 1993.
    Among survivors are five daughters, Shelly Roe of Monroe, Rita Schumm of Willshire, Ohio and Melanie (Erwin) Warsinski of Ft. Wayne. Bev Barkley of Sevierville, Tenn. and Lori (Ron) Marbach of Decatur; a son, William Schumm Jr. of Decatur; 16 grandchildren; five Step-grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frederick & Henry Schumm; a daughter-in-law, Shawn Schumm; and two sons-in-law, Ron Roe & David Barkley.
    Visitation will be from 2-4 and 5-8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 14, in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday also at the funeral home.
    Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the funeral home with Rev. Jeffery Patterson officiating. 
    Burial will follow in the Willshire Cemetery, Willshire, Ohio.
    Preferred memorials are to Family LifeCare in Berne.
