Wiffleball returns to Wren this weekend

The Wrenway Park Wiffleball Warehouse has announced rural Wren resident Darryl “DD” Strickler has been given the honor of throwing out the first pitch of this year’s wiffleball tournament, scheduled to begin with opening ceremonies at 5:45 p.m. Friday.
Strickler, a former Wren Little League coach, has been very active in many Wren charitable events, a press release from the organization states. Strickler was selected for the honor “as a result of his many years as a Wiffleball player and coach, auctioneer for many Wiffleball events and since he is a down-right good guy,” the release says.
Strickler and his wife, Mary, have two children, daughter Cassie (Billy), and son Dustin (Courtney), and one grandchild (Evan).
Four games are slated for Friday night beginning at 6 p.m., followed by a live concert by the Fort Wayne classic rock band “100 Proof” at approximately 9:30 p.m.
