Wayne E. Pope

    Wayne E. Pope, 73, of Hoagland, passed away at 4:19 p.m. on Monday, March 26, 2012, at his residence following an extended illness.
    Wayne was born on Tuesday, May 17, 1938, in Wells County, the son of the late Fred T. and Vivian C. (Olson) Pope.
    He married Rosemary Bechtel on September 21, 1958, in Plum Tree, Indiana; she survives.
    Wayne was a member of the Hope United Methodist Church, where he led praise and worship.
    Wayne retired in 1995 from East Allen Community Schools after 15 years of service and had also been an insurance agent for Commonwealth Life for 20 years.
    Among survivors are his wife, Rosemary Pope of Hoagland; daughter Trina M. Pope of Bluffton; son Ryan S. (Sandra) Pope of El Paso, Texas; son Mark W. (Denise) Pope of South Bend; brother Gene (Evelyn) Pope of Bluffton; sister Violet Veazey of Uniondale; brother Richard (Linda) Pope of Markle; three granddaughters and one grandson.
    Friends will be received from 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. Friday, March 30, in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 31, in Hope United Methodist Church, with Rev. Stacy Downing officiating.
    Burial will follow in the Williamsport Cemetery at Poe.
    Preferred memorials are to Hope United Methodist Church.
