Wayne Brice McMillen

    Wayne Brice McMillen, 89, Van Wert, Ohio, passed away at 4:20 p.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2012, at Van Crest Health Care Center.
    He was born in Adams County on August 28, 1922, to the late Brice and Mary Bemice (Cowan) McMillen.
    On January 3, 1953, he married Arlene A. (Hubert) McMillen; she passed away on January 28, 1996.
    Wayne retired from International Harvester in Fort Wayne and was a member of Trinity Friends Church, Van Wert. Wayne loved spending time with his family and his many friends.
    He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was a life member of VFW post 5803 and American Legion Post 178, both of Van Wert.
    Among survivors are his sons, Danny L. (Karla S.) McMillen, Jimmy B, McMillen; and Lonnie McMillen, all of Van Wert; stepchildren, Lonnie R. Novack of South Dakota.; Penny R. Thompson of Van Wert; and Carolyn (Tom) Firestine of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren and four great-granchildren.
    He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry W. McMillen, grandsons, Daniel McMillen and Jason Woods; brother, John W. McMillen; and sisters, Mary K. McGill and Elizabeth A. Bollenbacher.
    Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 21, at Cowan & Sons Funeral Home, Van Wert.
    Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 22, also at the funeral home, with Pastor Neil Hammons officiating.
    Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery.
    Preferred memorials are to Community Health Professionals Hospital.
