Waneta A. Franz

     Waneta A. Franz, 87, of Decatur, passed away at 3:30 a.m. on Friday, January 20, 2012, in the Woodcrest Nursing Center located in Decatur.
    Waneta was born on Tuesday, April 29, 1924, in Adams County to the late Martin and Frieda (Bauermeister) Conrad.    She married the late Richard C. Franz on March 13, 1943, in Decatur. He passed away on September 23, 1998.
    Waneta was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church, Fuelling. At church she was involved with the Ladies Aid and the church choir for a number of years. She was also actively involved with Project Compassion through St. Peter Lutheran Church.
    Waneta was a homemaker.
    Surviving are her sons, Kent R. (fiancee Sandy Trowbridge) Franz, of Monroeville; Ronald W. (Marjorie) Franz, of Decatur; daughters, Janell (Ed) Harper, of Monroeville; Lou Ann (William) Berry, of Fort Wayne; and Donna (Dale) Schlemmer, of Gladstone, Mich.; brothers, Marvin (Laurina) Conrad, of Decatur; Waldo (Doris) Conrad, of Decatur; sister-in-law, Hildegard Conrad, of Decatur; nine grandchildren, Jackie Sanderson, Jenny Sprunger, Josh Franz, Oona Hackbush, Erin Smith, Zak Schlemmer, Pete Schlemmer, Derek Franz, and Jordyn Franz; and eight great-grandchildren, Alexis Sanderson, Sydney Sanderson, Cally Wilken, Hannah Wilken, Jenna Wilken, Vada Hackbush, Aristotle Hackbush, and Ian Smith.
    She was preceded in death by one brother, Adelbert Conrad; grandson, Scott Wilken; and daughter-in-law, Sandra Franz.
        Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, January 22, in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to service at the church on Monday.
    Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 23, in the St. Peter Lutheran Church, Fuelling, with Rev. Martin Moehring officiating.
    Interment will follow in the St Peter Lutheran Cemetery.
    Preferred memorials are to St. Peter Lutheran Church, Fuelling, or Worship For Shut-Ins.
