Walter L. Watters

    Walter L. (Wally) Watters, 77, of Decatur, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2011, at his residence.
    He was born on February 6, 1934, in Fort Wayne, to the late Herman C. and Agnes U. (Bagley) Watters.
    He married Connie J. Syndram on June 11, 1955.
    He retired in 1997 after 42 and a half years of service with NIPSCO. He was a member of the American Legion Post 43, Decatur Optimist Club, a volunteer for Hospice of Northeast Indiana, and played Santa Claus for many years. He served his country in the United States Army from 1956-1958.
    He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Connie J. Watters of Decatur; a son, Walter H. (Tamie) Watters of Decatur; three daughters, Karen S. (Mike) Barger; Judy K. (Brian) Hill; and Sarah J. (Douglas) Anderson all of Decatur; one brother, Paul Watters of Fort Wayne; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Johnstone, and two brothers, Henry Eugene and Rex Watters.
    Calling is on Monday, January 2, 2012, from 4-8 p.m. at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home and one hour prior to services on Tuesday.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at the funeral home with Pastor Thomas Steensma officiating.            
    Military graveside rites by American Legion Post 43 Color Guard.
    Memorials are to Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Fort Wayne.
