Walter E. "Gene" Bienz, 79, of Washington Court House, Ohio, died on December 21, 2011, in Ohio State University's Medical Center at Columbus.
He was born on July 8, 1932, in Willshire, Ohio, to Kermit and Irene Spitler Bienz.
Mr. Bienz was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, a former member of the Vestry, and a past Junior Warden and Senior Warden.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.
He was a graduate of Ohio Northern University at Ada and a registered pharmacist from 1956 until retirement in 1997. Mr. Bienz worked at Risch's Drug Store and a Kmart pharmacy.
He was a member of Paul H. Hughey Post 25 of the American Legion and The Coffee Club, was a former member of the Kiwanis Club and the Washington Country Club, and had served on the Washington City Board of Education.
He was a 13-year heart transplant recipient.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Gehm.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Gause Bienz; two sons, Rick Bienz (and Sharon Davis) of Jersey, Ohio, and Jon M. Bienz of Charleston, South Carolina; and one daughter, Mrs. Craig (Jenny) Breedlove of Washington Court House.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at 1 p.m. in St. Andrews Episcopal Church, with Rev. Gayle Hansen-Browne officiating.
Burial will be in St. Andrews Memorial Garden.
There will be no visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrews Episcopal Endowment Fund in memory of Gene Bienz.
