Waldo Conrad

    Waldo Conrad, 87, of Decatur, passed away at 8:25 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013, at Woodcrest Nursing Center.
    Waldo was born Friday, January 8, 1926, in Adams County, to the late Martin and Frieda (Bauermeister) Conrad.
    He married Aldine Meyer, on June 5, 1948, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church-Ossian; she passed away on November 20, 1979.
    He married Doris (Buuck) Walther, on February 24, 1990, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church-Fort Wayne; she survives.
    Waldo was a member of Zion Lutheran Church-Friedheim, where he served three times as a trustee. Active in his community, Waldo was also on the Farm Bureau Co-op Board of Directors and the Farm Bureau Co-op Credit Union Board of Directors. Waldo served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
    He was a dairy farmer for most of his life.
    Among survivors are his son, Mark (Carma) Conrad of Ossian; three daughters, Myra (Don) Niemeyer of Fort Wayne, Marla (Roger) Manley, and Marsha (Sam) Braun, both of Decatur; brother, Marvin (Laurina) Conrad of Decatur; three stepsons, Thomas (Beverly) Walther of Nakoosa, Wisc.; John (Nancy) Walther of Wheaton, Ill.; and Mark (Tammy) Walther of Hampshire, Ill.; five stepdaughters, Deborah (Mel) Tucker of Columbia City Judy (Mike) Camiliere of Sugar Grove, Ill.; Christine (John) Monnin of Cleveland, Ohio; Gretchen (Pastor Bernie) Huesmann of Grafton, Wisc.; Sara (Chad) Hall of Fort Knox, Kent.; 11 grandchildren; 27 stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and 23 stepgreat-grandchildren.
    Waldo was preceded in death by his daughter, Darlene Conrad; brother, Adelbert Conrad; and sister, Waneta Franz.
    Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, and 9-10 a.m. Thursday, May 30, at Zion Lutheran Church-Friedheim.
    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, also at the church, with Rev. Daniel Dahling officiating.
    Burial will follow in Zion Lutheran Cemetery-Friedheim.
