Wage hike request falls on deaf county council ears

January 20, 2014

Adams County Auditor Mary Beery requested Adams County Councilors increase the pay of the deputy auditors in her department at their regular monthly meeting last week, but the request was met with considerable opposition.
Beery asked councilors to set the pay of new employee Jolene Wynn at $27,823 annually. In addition, she requested salary increases for three full-time employees. She asked the annual salary of Brianna Lee be set at $28,816, that of Lynn Geels be upped to $27,137 and that of Angie Brite be increased to $27,536. The salary figures amounted to an average annual increase of $323 per employee, or approximately $6.21 per week.
