Voting district changes given final approval

May 30, 2013

Adams Court Clerk Gayla Reinhart, assisted by Abigail Dyer, a member of the county election board, last week received approval from the county commissioners to change the line between voting districts 1 and 2 in Decatur, which will move 23 voters from District 1 to District 2.
Reinhart explained that the last Census had revealed that the change is necessary to keep district populations somewhat evenly balanced.
Twenty-three voters on Rugg, Fornax and First streets, , southwest of the jail, will be affected, and will receive letters notifying them of the change.
