Virginia I. Elder

     Virginia Ilene Elder, 82, of Plymouth, Ind., passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013, at her residence.
    Virginia was born in Portland on April 30, 1931, to the late Merle and Anna (McFarland) Smiley.
    She married Donald Elder, who survives.
    Virginia was a retired schoolteacher, having taught elementary education in the Monroe Central Schools in Randolph County, Portland, and Decatur. She was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority at Ball State, Psi Iota Sorority in Portland and Decatur, and the Church of Christ in Portland and Decatur.
    Among survivors are two sons, John Elder of Humble, Texas, and Kurt Elder of Plymouth; daughter, Kelli Hacha of Plymouth; sister, Sandy Fravel of Geneva; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren
    Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Monday, May 13, at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home, Portland.
    Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Pastor Dale Fosnaugh officiating.
    Burial will follow in Salamonia Cemetery.
    Preferred memorials are to the donor's choice.
