Both nasal and injectable vaccine will be offered to children and young adults between the ages of 2 - 24, to pregnant women, and to caregivers with children under 6 months of age. If a child has has received any live vaccine such as MMR or Varicella (chicken pox) vaccine in the last 28 days, the child cannot receive the H1N1 flumist vaccine, the announcement said. However, they can receive the injectable vaccine. The H1N1 flumist vaccine (nasal spray) will be available for healthy children ages 2-24 years of age with no history of asthma. The H1N1 vaccine (injectable) is for children 2 to 24 years, as long as they are not allergic to eggs, according to health officials. For more information about the flu, go to www.fighttheflu.org.
