not guilty on his behalf. In a story in today's edition of the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, Tyler White said his 28-year-old wife pointed her gun at him first. He reportedly told a Wells County Sheriff's Department detective that after his wife arrived at the home of her in-laws to take their son back to her home in Geneva, he asked for another half-hour to be with the boy. He allegedly said his wife refused and pointed her gun at him as they argued. Tyler White also allegedly stated that he knelt in the garage and told his wife to put her gun down, then took his gun from his waistband and shot her. Amy White died a short while later in Bluffton Regional Medical Center of two gunshot wounds in her chest. Police found two handguns on the garage floor, the Journal Gazette story said. The Fort Wayne newspaper stated that Wells County Coroner Kent Gilbert "declined comment on a manner of death until he reviewed the autopsy findings further. [Amy White's] death has not yet been ruled a homicide." Tyler White is being held in the Wells County Jail. A preliminary plea of not guilty was entered in Wells Circuit Court on Wednesday for Tyler White, 27, who was charged with one count of murder. Judge David Hanselman ordered White held without bond and set four days, April 20-23 next year, for trial. Wells County Prosecutor Mike Lautzenheiser told the Bluffton News-Banner he did not intend to seek the death penalty. He said the murder charge filed against White is punishable by a fixed term of 45 to 65 years with an advisory sentence of 55 years.
