Homecoming parade which begins at 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 20. Wren officials said Bailey "went above and beyond" last December when he rescued George Weck from his burning home on US 224 north of Wren. Westbound while driving home, Wren officials said, Bailey encountered what at first appearance seemed to be a heavy fog. Upon driving out of it, he quickly realized that it was not fog at all; the blinding thickness on the road had been smoke. He soon saw Weck’s house engulfed in flames. "Taking swift decisive action, Alan backed his truck up and returned to the burning structure. With little regard to his personal safety, he was able to awaken the rural Wren resident and help him to safety," the Wren officials said. "It is people just like Alan that make up the fiber of small-town America," they continued. "Caring for one another not only in thought, but also in action sets people like Allan apart from many. We are extremely honored to have Allan as our parade marshall and we willl recognize his extraordinary act of bravery and compassion by presenting him with some small tokens of appreciation as well as the key to the village, to be presented by Wren Village Mayor Monica Davis."
