The event will be at 9 a.m. on the ground floor of the Adams County Service Complex, one day later than the usual monthly meeting to accommodate the schedule of the guest speaker: Dr. Larry DeBoer, a Purdue professor and an expert on taxes in Indiana. Borne said, "LOIT was made available to local governments by the Indiana General Assembly in 2008 and is to be used specifically for the replacement of property taxes for the funding of local government services. "The LOIT is not mandated by state government and is a local government decision." Borne said all Adams County residents are encouraged to attend the meeting to take part in the discussion in regard to the shifting of the cost of local government services from property taxes to income taxes.
