Turn lane change begins Thursday
Written by Reporter1
Tuesday, 22 July 2008
The state will do the work because Monroe St. is also the route of US 224.
The state announcement said the new left-turn lane will go into effect this Thursday, July 24, and added, "The change was initiated by a request from city officials and local business owners."
The statement says the eastbound left lane will become a "left turn-only" lane and the current "no left turn" restriction will be eliminated.
The eastbound right lane will become a shared through right lane and the westbound left turn signal phase will be changed from a "lagging'" left turn to a "leading" left turn, state officials explained. That means the left-turn arrow will come on at the beginning of the green cycle, rather than at the end.
