He owned Hilty Cabinet Co. and was a co-owner of Hilty Builder Supply, both in rural Berne. He was also a member of the Old Order Amish. Other survivors are three sons: Ervin Hilty of rural Monroe and Milo and Christy Hilty, both of rural Smyrna Mills, Maine; two daughters, Mrs. Lamar (Lucynda) Hilty of rural Monroe and Mrs. Jerry (Laura) Hilty of rural Berne; five brothers: Samuel, Roman, and Marvin Hilty, all of rural Berne; Joe Hilty of rural Monroe; and Edward Hilty of rural Red House, Virginia; five sisters, Mrs. Henry J. (Marie) Shetler, Mrs. Elmer (Laura) Miller, and Mrs. Lavern (Carol) Troyer, all of rural Berne; Lydiann Yoder of rural Washington, Indiana; and Mrs. Jim (Anna Mae) Lengacher of rural Woodburn, Indiana; 38 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday in his home, on County Rd. 350 South between US 27 and County Rd. 000. Burial will be in Schwartz Cemetery, rural Berne. Visiting hours at the home are 1-8 p.m. today and 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday. Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne was in charge of funeral arrangements.
