teams entered according to the latest statewide softball poll.
The Braves are down the pack at number 22 and drew into the bye game against a very weak Wayne squad.
The most interesting game of the tournament could be game two on Tuesday, May 20 at 5 p.m. when Bellmont is slated to battle Norwell. Earlier this season, Bellmont rallied for seven runs in the bottom of the seventh when they played Norwell in NHC action to claim a come-from-behind 10-9 victory.
The tournament will start on Monday, the 19th at 5 p.m. with Elmhurst and Peru while the winner of the Monday and Tuesday game will see action against each other on Wednesday, May 20 at 5 p.m. The Maconaquah-Wayne tilt is slated for Thursday and the championship game is at 5 p.m. on Friday. May 24, a Saturday, is slated as the rain date for the tournament.
Tickets for all Sectional games will be available at Norwell will be available for $8 per person or $5 for each individual night.
Another big match-up in the area will occur at the class 2A Sectional at Bluffton where two Adams County teams are entered.
South Adams and Woodlan, both teams mentioned in the latest 2A poll will open the tournament in game one on Tuesday, May 20 at 6 p.m. while Bishop Luers, which dropped from class 3A to 2A this year, will take on Adams Central in the second contest on Thursday, the 22nd at 5 p.m. Bluffton received a bye and will play the winner of the South Adams-Woodlan tilt at approximately 7 p.m. on the 22nd.
The championship game is slated for 6 p.m. Friday.
South Adams is ranked 11th and Woodlan is 17th in this week’s poll. Both Bishop Luers and Bluffton have been mentioned in the poll at various times this year.
The class 3A Regional will be held at Bellmont this year on Saturday, May 31. Winners from the Norwell, Angola, Blackford, and Lakeland Sectionals will be assigned here. The Angola Sectional includes Heritage which drew the host Hornets in the opening game. Other games there find Bishop Dwenger vs. Harding, Concordia vs. New Haven, and Leo vs. the Angola-Heritage winner.
The winner of the Bluffton Sectional in class 2A will play at Eastern High School in Howard County, also on the 31st.
