The event will be held from 7 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the C&C Bible Fellowship Hall, 4375 S. 150 E., Berne. The sponsoring organizations were awarded a collaborative grant from the Adams County Community Foundation, making it possible to offer many of the services at no charge or at a discounted rate, according to a hospital spokesperson. This event will be open to all Adams County residents. Services to be offered will include the following: • Free blood pressure checks. Also, chem. 30 tests will be offered for $30 (it includes cholesterol, glucose, triglycerides, heart, liver, and kidney functions). Fasting is required for 10 hours prior to the chem. 30 test. The first 50 participants will be offered the chem. 30 at half-price. Prostate cancer screens will be offered for $20 and thyroid screens will also be available for $20. • Free childhood immunizations. It will be mandatory for parents to bring their child’s shots record the day of the health fair. Health risk appraisals (HRAs ) will be offered for $16. A HRA is a comprehensive picture of a participant's health, based on cholesterol and blood pressure results as well as body mass index testing and hip and waist measurements. The first 50 participants will be offered the Htest at no cost. • Home canning safety checks. Participants should bring their pressure canner lids. Professionals in areas of alcohol, tobacco, drugs, and mental health will also be present during the fair. Nutritional tips and chiropractic services with Dr. Jade Reynolds will also be available.
