Councilman Matt Dyer said he recently received two complaints about parked vehicles on streets: a boat on a trailer and a truck with a snowplow. He said the truck with the plow has been parked in front of a woman's home for 10 years and is only moved between two and five times a year. The truck, said Dyer, has a valid license plate and appears operable, which met three of the requirements listed by city building and zoning chief Roger Gage for all parked vehicles in Decatur: proper license plate, insurance coverage, and operability. Dyer said he wants to know how the term "construction equipment" is defined, which could be part of the potential review. Also at the meeting: • Fire Chief Les Marckel reported that members of his department will make their annual tests of the fire hoses inside about a dozen industries in Decatur to make certain those hoses are functional. • Joan Eichhorn, city storm water superintendent, reported that the Borum Run sanitary sewer extension has been completed and inspected, so the Knights of Columbus pavilion and seven homes in that area will soon be hooked into it. • Permission was granted for the annual Memorial Day parade, which will be held on Monday, May 26, starting at 10 a.m. It will begin at American Legion Post 43, then go around Riverside Center for a brief service at the Yost Brothers Memorial Bridge on Jackson St. before ending at the Peace Monument on the Adams County Courthouse square for a program.
