VETERANS WALL OF HONOR

May 9, 2014

Retired Army Sgt. Major “Fritz” Bultemeier, left, and county maintenance supervisor Dave Meyer are pictured above behind the Veterans Wall of Honor that is being constructed near the Peace Monument on the county courthouse grounds. The four-sided wall will feature bricks inscribed to honor military veterans of the county — including individuals who served in the Spanish-American War, Civil War and World War I, as well as  a Congressional Medal of Honor winner. The wall will be formally dedicated during Memorial Day services, scheduled for 11 a.m. May 26 at the Peace Monument, weather permitting. Meyer said bricks are still available for purchase, at a cost of $135 for 4-by-4 inch bricks and $200 for 8-by-8 inch bricks. Call Meyer at 517-8090 for more information.
