Vernon W. Luginbill

    Vernon W. Luginbill, 80, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
    He was born on October 30, 1931, in Mercer County, Ohio, to the late Roy and Goldie (Bollenbacher) Luginbill.
    On December 12, 1954, he married Martha Jane Bollenbacher; she preceded him in death on September 12, 2004.
    Vern was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and the American Legion Post 43. He retired in 1996 from North Adams Community Schools. He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army.
    He is survived by a son, Neal W. (Judi) Luginbill of Marysville, Ohio; a daughter, Susan Lynne Rayer of New Whiteland, Ind.; a brother, R. Dean Luginbill of Rockford, Ohio; two sisters, Norma Jean (Charles) Fuson of Celina and Mary Luginbill of Chattanooga, Ohio; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
    Visitation will from noon-4 p.m. on Sunday, July 1, at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home.
    Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 2, also at the funeral home, with Rev. Clifford Bollenbacher officiating.
    Burial will be in St. Paul's U.C.C. Cemetery, Rockford,  with military graveside rites by the American Legion Post 43 Color Guard.
    Preferred memorials are to Zion United Church of Christ or ACCF Angel Cancer Fund.
