Vera M. Mattax

    Vera M. Mattax, 83, Decatur, passed away Feb. 18, 2014, at Hearth and Home in Van Wert, Ohio.
    She was born Sept. 4, 1930, in Adams County, to the late Chancy and Lillian B. (Bohren) Yoder.
    Vera married D. Vaughn Mattax April 23, 1955; he died in January of 2005.
    She was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church. She worked for Dunbar and Old Fort Supply. Vera was a member of the Scrambling Squares Square Dance Club.
    She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Sheila) Shaffer of Decatur and Rhonda Mattax of Milton, Wash.; a brother, Kenneth Yoder of Berne; three sisters, Mrs. Leonard (Janis) Balsiger of Arivaca, Ariz., Mrs. Claren (Darleen) Lehman and Alice Hirschy, both of Berne; two grandchildren, Jenna Shaffer of Berne and Mrs. Eric (Liane) Rambo of Huntington.
    Vera was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Murl Yoder; and two sisters, Violet Nussbaum and Marjorie Ulman.
    Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at Monroe United Methodist Church with calling one hour prior to service. Officiating will be Pastor Charlene Allen.
    Burial will follow in the Decatur Cemetery.
    Visitation will be from 3–7 p.m. Friday at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home.
