Vera L. Rauch

    Vera L. Rauch, 87, of Decatur, passed away at 8:40 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
    She was born in Adams County on June 25, 1925, to the late Julius C. and Anna I. (Bernard) Schultz.
    On June 21, 1950, she married Homer F. Rauch; he died on August 30, 1999.
    She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and its Rosary Society. Vera worked as a homemaker and also at First State Bank. She retired from for St. Joseph Catholic School, where she had worked in the cafeteria and drove a school bus.
    She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She researched her family genealogy and published four books. Vera was a fond collector of dolls, antiques, and dishes.
    Among survivors are four sons, John E. (Deb) Rauch of St. Louis, Mo.; Jim W. (Sheryl) Rauch of Decatur; twins Pat J. Rauch and Mike J. (Donna Wefel) Rauch, both of Decatur; four daughters, Ann (Jeff) Garrison of Warren, Mich.; Joie (Ken) Nelson of Fort Wayne; Chum (Craig Bultemeier) Hakes  and Lori (Kevin) Anderson, both of Decatur; two sisters, Mary C. Geimer and Julia Ann Heimann, both of Decatur; 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her son, Daniel J. Rauch; a grandson, Bill Rauch; a sister and three brothers.
    Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, November 30, at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home, with a reciting of the Holy Rosary at 3:30 p.m.
    A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with visitation one hour prior in the St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Father David Voors will be presiding.
    Burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
    Preferred memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic School.
