Van Wert shooting leaves 1 dead, 1 hurt; suspect still at large

    A shooting in Van Wert, Ohio has left one woman dead and a man seriously injured, according to a spokeswoman for the Van Wert Police Department.
    Police received a 911 call at 6:02 p.m. Thursday with reports of a shooting at 223 S. Fulton St. Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims inside the residence, the spokeswoman said. Both shooting victims were transported to Van Wert County Hospital. The female shooting victim died later at a Fort Wayne hospital as a result of her wounds. The male victim is in stable condition at a Fort Wayne hospital with a gunshot wound to his thigh, according to the spokeswoman.
    The primary suspect in the shooting, Tamara K. Menke, 47, is still at large and considered armed and dangerous, the spokeswoman said. Menke is described as a white, 5 feet, 6 inches tall female weighing 150 pounds. She has brown hair and hazel eyes and was last seen wearing camouflage clothing.

    No further information was available this morning. This incident remains under investigation.
