‘Ugly wall’ may get some early work

April 23, 2013

That "ugly wall," as Mayor John Schultz describes it, may be shedding some of its ugliness one of these days.
The wall in question, of course, is the big one left facing Monroe St. once the Holthouse Drug/Dwayne's Sweeper Shop was demolished several months ago,
The mayor noted at last week's city council meeting that the local Sculpture Tour Committee has asked permission to place some sort of temporary mural on the wall to get it through this year's tour, scheduled for June 8.
Schultz said local resident Greg Mendez, the well-known sculptor who has been a driving force behind the establishment of the sculpture walk (now tour) believes he can create something on the wall to make it more presentable.
