Tyler White gets 70 years

November 18, 2011

Tyler White

Tyler White of Bluffton was handed a 70-year prison term in Wells Circuit Court on Friday morning.
Brian Hutchinson, a special appointed judge from Jay County, sentenced White, 29, to 60 years for murdering his wife, Amy, and another 10 years for enhancement, since his wife was pregnant at the time.
The sentencing had been postponed on Monday due to a major fire which erupted near the courthouse in downtown Bluffton.
Amy, a Berne resident and former basketball star at South Adams High School, was slain in late 2009 in front of her son, Max, six years old at the time.
Before proceedings were interrupted on Monday, the court heard from the slain woman's parents, Michael Meyer and Mary Fryback.
Tyler White had been found guilty last month by a jury.
