True Value places second at Monmouth

    Decatur True Value, the eight and under All-Star team, came in second place at the Monmouth All-Star tournament.
    The tourney was a pool consisting of six teams: Decatur, Monmouth, New Haven, Elmhurst, Hoagland, and Monroeville.
    In the first game of pool play, Decatur defeated the New Haven All-Stars, 22-12. Carter Thomas, Kolton Fawbush, and Theryn White all had four hits in the contest to pace Decatur. Chase Lenegar smashed five hits including a triple and a homerun. Prestin Siefring, Trevor Walker, Magnuss Lee, and Austin Christner had two hits each, while Nathan Schultz and Ethyn Bailer each had a hit.
    In the second game, the squad smashed Hoagland in 4 innings, 14 to 1. Thomas had three hits, Fawbush and White each had two hits (White doubled). Lenegar, Siefring, Walker, Bryce Roop, Bailer, and Lee all had a hit each.
    In the semi-finals of the tournament Decatur beat Monmouth, 9-5. Lenegar had two hits including a home run, and Bailer also chipped in with a pair of hits. Thomas, Fawbush, and Christner each had a hit. Siefring had a triple and Walker doubled.
    In the championship game, True Value lost a heart-breaker to Elmhurst in a close match up, 13-12.
