True E. Myers, 66, of Monroe, went to meet the Lord on Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at the VA Hospital in Fort Wayne.
He was born in Decatur on April 27, 1946, to the late Melvin D. and Anna A. (Liechty).
On April 10, 1966, he married Barbara (Brubaker).
True was a machinist and cabinet builder, and was employed by Textron and Fleetwood. He was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church, and a former member of the Monroe Fire Department rescue squad and a volunteer EMT. True served his country in the United States Army in Vietnam.
He served on various boards at church, was a Cub Scout leader, and enjoyed buying and selling tools through his business, True’s Stuff, during his retirement years.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara A. Myers of Monroe; one son, Rev. David P. (Julie) Myers of Wabash; one daughter, Petula S. Myers of Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, an International worker C and MA; one brother, Thomas E. (Marge) Myers of New Haven; one sister, Hope (Clarence) Hudson of Berne; and three grandchildren, Lilly, James and Jacob Myers.
Visitation will be on Sunday, June 10, from 11a.m.-4 p.m., at Haggard Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services at the church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 11, at the Monroe United Methodist Church, with Pastor Eric Simpson officiating.
Burial will be in the Westlawn Cemetery in Geneva, with Military graveside rites by American Legion Post #468 Berne. Preferred memorials are to Monroe United Methodist Church and Hope Clinic Berne/Decatur.
