‘Triple-A’ rating is cause for celebration at AC

January 22, 2014

CELEBRATING THEIR ‘A’ — Adams Central Superintendent Dr. Lori Richmond and former Superintendent Mike Pettibone dance the “Harlem Shake” while surrounded by a flashmob of AC staffers during a celebration of the school’s recent “Triple A” rating by the state.

On Friday the basketball gym at Adams Central was rocking. AC students and staff were there to celebrate the school district’s triple “A” status after the elementary, middle and high schools received A’s by the state Department of Education for the 2013 school year.
The grades were based on ISTEP+ performance and growth in math, language arts, and a combination of the two; results of End of Course Assessments; attendance rates; and graduation rates.
Staff members secretly practiced, preparing for the event since before Christmas vacation, and postponed the celebration twice due to the weather. The 20 minute event included congratulatory and encouraging comments to the students from Superintendent Dr. Lori Richmond and former Superintendent Mike Pettibone.
