Tony Kelly

    Tony Allen Kelly of St. Augustine, Florida, died on November 8, 2010, unexpectedly in Philadelphia.
    He is survived by his wife, Karen McBride Kelly, and three daughters, Shannon Kelly, Paige Pawson (Todd), and Alix Overbeek (Dan), along with four grandsons and one granddaughter; a sister, Nan Law of Port Charlotte, Floridaa, and five nieces and nephews.
    Born in Decatur, Indiana, on May 17, 1939, the son of Helen DeVor Kelly (deceased) and Roger Kelly (deceased), Tony spent his youth there. He was a graduate of Indiana University. Karen McBride of Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Tony Kelly were married on October 21, 1966, in Vicksburg.
    He was a member of the Decatur Masonic Lodge No. 571, F. & A. M., and the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI, Inc.
    His earlier careers began as a teacher and expanded to being a special agent with the FBI. After the bureau, he pursued a new career in labor relations in the construction industry, which consumed 38 years of his working life.  He spent 17 years with Townsend & Bottum, Inc. in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In 2002, he retired as Vice President of Labor Relations from Black and Veatch, a global engineering and construction firm based in Kansas City, Kansas.
    He was a member of the board of directors of Associated Maintenance Contractors Association and the North American Contractors Association. After his retirement, he was a consultant to numerous major corporations and was a leading construction industry arbitrator.
     Golf was his final career. He was an active member of the St. Johns Men’s Golf Association in Elkton, Florida.
    A memorial service will be held  4 p.m. Wednesday at Craig Funeral Home, 1475 Old Dixie Hwy, St. Augustine, Florida, Rev. Terry Smith of Ann Arbor, Michigan, officiating. There will be an interment service at Wintergreen Cemetery on November 20, 2010, at 10 a.m. in Port Gibson, Mississippi.
    In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The First Tee of St. Johns County, 4401 Cypress Links Blvd, Elkton, FL 32033, or The Wintergreen Cemetery Assoc., P.O. Box 91, Port Gibson, MS 39150; or The Breast Cancer Foundation or The Heart Association.
    Craig Funeral Home Crematory Memorial Park is in charge of arrangements.
