Time to call in the lawyers - Park boards merger talks tabled

April 15, 2013

    Call in the lawyers.
That was about all on which the Decatur Park Board and the Adams County Park Board could agree during a brief joint meeting on Thursday afternoon.
The two boards had met independently three days earlier, and each group heard a proposal to incorporate the two bodies into one board that would oversee the city-county parks and recreation department.
The idea was put before both boards to coincide with the pending retirement of parks and rec superintendent Steve Krull, who announced Monday to both boards that he plans to retire in early January after 42 years with the park department.
