Those interested in attending the upcoming Indiana Hall of Fame banquet when Decatur native David Anspaugh will be honored may still purchase tickets. But banquet organizers say they are selling quickly.
The event is scheduled for Wednesday, March 20, at the Primo Banquet Hall, 2615 National Avenue in Indianapolis.
For a reservation, send $50 per person with name, address (including city, state and ZIP), plus phone number and email, to: One Hall of Fame Court, New Castle, In 47362.
Checks should be made payable to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Foundation, Inc.
For information, telephone (765) 529-1891; use FAX, (765) 529-0273; or email email@example.com.
A reception will be held from 5-6 p.m. with the honorees on hand, dinner will be served at 6 and the program is scheduled to start at 7.
The banquet is a celebration of Indiana’s basketball heritage. The program will honor the newest inductees, bring together a Silver Anniversary All-Star team from the Indiana High School Class of 1988, and reunite members of schools that won state championships: the 1988 Muncie Central team and the 1963 Muncie Central team.
Anspaugh and another Indiana native, Angelo Pizzo, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at New Castle as recipients of the St. Vincent Health Silver Medal for contributions to Indiana high school basketball other than as a player or coach.
They are being honored, of course, for their work on "Hoosiers"; Anspaugh was the director and his friend, Pizzo, the screen writer.
Anspaugh and Pizzo, who is from Bloomington, also collaborated on the Notre Dame football movie "Rudy."
